Sian Ka´an means in Maya language “origin of the sky”. This Biosphere Reserve is located in the Mexican Caribbean coast in the southeast of Mexico, on the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula in the State of Quintana. Due to the great diversity of aquatic habitats, marine and wading birds are well represented. This Biosphere Reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef. It provides a habitat for a remarkably rich flora and a fauna comprising more than 300 species. In 1987 was declared as World Heritage by the UNESCO.

-This expedition is not suitable for people with severe physical or motor handicap, serious heart problems, for overweight people and people who are not able to handle physical activity. Neither for those who suffer claustrophobia or do not know how to swim. It is definitely not allowed for pregnant women, nor children under 4 years old. People under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate in this expedition.
